Bodo dhaan, also known as Bao dhaan or Deep Water Rice, is a variety of rice cultivated in flood-prone areas of Assam, particularly in the Brahmaputra Valley. It is a traditional rice landrace grown in low, swampy lands with water stagnation. Bodo dhaan is known for its red kernels, which are rich in iron and other nutrients like vitamin A, zinc, and antioxidants.
