India: Primarily crafted in the Murshidabad and Malda districts of West Bengal, renowned globally for Tussar silk production. 

Pure Gachi Tussar: Gachi refers to the purest form of Tussar silk, reeled directly from the cocoons. It is unbleached and retains the natural golden-beige hue of wild silk.

Wild Silk (Kosa Silk): Derived from the larvae of several species of silkworms belonging to the genus Antheraea. It is a 100% natural, protein-based fibre.

Srivari Work: Characterized by elaborate, dense embroidery or woven motifs along the borders and pallu (anchor), often featuring Temple patterns or sacred geometry that adds a majestic, heavy look.
Natural Lustre: Unlike mulberry silk, Gachi Tussar has a subtle, metallic sheen that is unique to wild silk. 

High Strength: Tussar is known for its thick, resilient fibres. It is significantly more durable than more delicate silks and holds heavy embroidery (Srivari work) without sagging. 

Thermal Comfort: Its natural porous structure makes it comfortable for both warm and cool weather, though it is slightly denser and warmer than linen.

Rich & Granular: It has a distinctively coarse, textured feel compared to smooth silks, providing a rich-grain handle that feels substantial and premium. 

Auspicious Occasions: In Bengal, Gachi Tussar is considered highly prestigious and is typically reserved for weddings, religious ceremonies, and major festivals like Durga Puja. It symbolizes purity and traditional wealth. 

Dry Clean Only: To preserve the intricate Srivari work and the natural silk proteins, professional dry cleaning is mandatory.
Storage: Wrap in a clean cotton or muslin cloth. Avoid plastic covers to prevent sweating or yellowing of the silk.
Ironing: Use a cool or silk-setting iron on the reverse side to protect the decorative work.
