Specification :
Fabric :

Hand-Spun Eri Silk: A traditional, dense weave that offers a rustic, artisanal texture unique to the Bodo heartland.
Authentic Feel: It is soft yet sturdy, providing a comfortable grip around the neck without being slippery like commercial silks.

Country Of Origin :

India: Exclusively handcrafted in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) of Assam.

Material :

100% Pure Eri Silk: Made from natural Peace Silk fibres, ensuring an eco-friendly and sustainable accessory.
Cotton-Silk Blends (Optional): While traditional versions are pure Eri, some modern variants may include high-quality cotton for added lightness.

Speciality :

Symbol of Bodo Identity: The Aronai is the most recognizable cultural emblem of the Boro people.
Multi-Purpose Use: Historically used to honour guests, as a sash in traditional dances, or as a protective muffler in the winter.

Technique Of Design :

Traditional Handloom (Thaon): Woven manually by Boro women weavers using time-honoured techniques.
Intricate Agor (Patterns): Features the iconic Hajw Agor (mountain design) and Phul Agor (flower design) throughout the body and borders.
Fringed Ends: The ends are typically finished with hand-knotted tassels or simple fringes, adding to its traditional aesthetic.

Tribe Name :

The Boro (Bodo) Tribe: The master craftsmen behind the design, who use the Aronai to tell the story of their heritage and landscape.

Cultural & Traditional Significance :

The Garland of Honour: It is used to welcome and felicitate guests, dignitaries, and loved ones as a sign of deep respect and love.
Dance & Festivity: A crucial part of the Bagurumba dance attire and a mandatory accessory during the Bwisagu festival.
Spiritual Connection: Often worn by men and women during religious ceremonies to signify purity and cultural pride.

Durability :

Rugged Longevity: Designed to withstand daily wear; the Eri silk fibres are resistant to fraying and thinning.
Colour Fastness: When dyed with traditional methods, the vibrant colours (often yellow, green, and red) remain bright for years.

Breathability :

Ventilated Warmth: The hand-woven structure allows air to circulate, preventing sweat build-up while providing excellent insulation against the wind.
Skin-Friendly: Hypoallergenic properties of Eri silk make it ideal for the sensitive skin around the neck.

Care Instruction :

Washing: Gentle hand wash in cold water with a mild silk detergent.
Drying: Flat dry in the shade to protect the intricate woven patterns and colours from fading.
Ironing: Iron on a low-to-medium silk setting; avoid high heat on the decorative woven Agors to maintain their texture.
Storage: Store flat or loosely rolled in a dry place; avoid hanging for long periods to prevent stretching.
