Rainbow trout are a freshwater fish species known for their beautiful coloration and strong fighting ability. They typically have a torpedo-shaped body with an olive-green to blue-green back, silvery sides, and a pink or red stripe along their sides. They are also covered in small black spots, including on their tail and fins. Rainbow trout are members of the salmon family and are known for their leaping ability when hooked. Rainbow trout are found in cool, clear rivers, streams, and lakes. Some populations, known as steelhead, migrate to the ocean and return to freshwater to spawn.
